Maternal Child Health (MCH) Community Assessment

 South Heartland’s MCH Community Assessment Report (December 2007) provides a snapshot of the region’s health in regard to the maternal and child populations and proposes a road map for improvement in four priority areas:

               ·    Obesity / Overweight 
                ·    Oral Health  
                ·    Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Substance Use / Exposure  
                ·    Unintentional Injuries

This report will serve as the basis for design and implementation of MCH programs which safeguard and improve the health of women, children and families in Adams, Clay, Nuckolls and Webster counties.  We hope that agencies serving women, children and families (many of which participated in this assessment process) will engage in continued collaboration and planning to ensure provision of a comprehensive community-based health care system for these populations.
